In the menu that appears (often called the “ power users menu“), select “Task Manager,” and Task Manager will launch. If you’d rather not use the keyboard to launch Task Manager, you can right-click the Start button on your taskbar. Same can be said of each of them individually. The time-tested Task Manager keyboard shortcut still works in Windows 11.

If I'm using OBS Studio, then, Shadowplay and Windows DVR are closed and not running. So I better also add that I don't have them all running at the same time. So both programs where this occurs are related with streaming and recording video. 6.- Second attempt to open it, either before or after closing the failed OBS process in the task manager, will work fine every single time. 5.- It's not off screen, it's not in the task bar. 3.- Go to task Manager and OBS is running. 2.- Windows shows the "thinking circle" for a couple of seconds, and nothing happens. I wouldn't get a warning because OBS allows for 2 instances running. First attempt was only opening in the task manager. Then I remembered about and decided to check if that was the case with OBS too. (Again, always at the second attempt, without failing.). I would just assume I failed clicking and try again and it would open. With OBS, because it allows for 2 instances running simultaneously, I didn't realize until way later.

At the second attempt, it would always open with no problems. I would have to enter task manager to end the process and open it again. But in their case, they don't allow 2 instances of the same program to run simultaneously so I would always get the "The program is already running" warning. Is a matter of the program not actually showing at all despite the process being open.įirst time it happened to me, it was with, another recording app. It's not a matter of the window being off-screen or minimized. Just saying, because it's the first thing everyone will try to point out. The process is running in the task manager, but nothing in the task bar or on screen. Noticed it first with another similar streaming/recording app.
